The Bollywood movies often offer movies that managed to strike a chord with their audience. Indian cities just might be an ordinary location, but, while putting it in the movies becomes a tourist spot and we start craving to visit that tourist place. There are numerous locations we love to see in the movies and many times we just watch that particular movie just to feel the essence of the place. Here, we have picked up some of the most popular movies that always inspire us to explore that place.

  • Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani – Manali

We can’t forget to mention the most obvious movie in this list – Ye Jwani Hai Deewani. All-time favorite movie for most of us. No one can deny the fact that after watching it, we all wanted to go Manali with our friends. Manali has a unique charm that attracts with its beauty. Manali is an ideal holiday destination that offers so much like snow-clad mountains, pristine Beas River, snow activities, hot springs, and amazing attractions like Hadimba Devi Temple, Solang Valley, Rohtang Pass, Gulaba Point, and Mall Road, etc. Apart from Manali, it also shows the magic of Udaipur city in that ideal destination wedding. It gave a royal feeling and it also makes us feel to attend a friend’s wedding like that.

  • Dil Chahta Hai – Goa

“Hum Logon Ko Har Saal Ek Baar Goa Zaroor ana Chahiye”. This movie set the benchmark and inspired the young generations to travel to Goa once in a while. The craze was hyped during 2001 when it was released. Most of the youngsters just want to pack their bags and head to Goa. The place offers a lot like astonishing beaches, palm-fringed coastlines, delectable Goan cuisines, parties, nightlife, and much more.

  • Suddh Desi Romance – Jaipur

In this Rom-Com, Jaipur city is proved a fine setting indeed and captured its char beautifully. With colorful Rajasthani touch and flavors perfectly blend with the concept of the movie. Colorful markets of Jaipur, rich culture, majestic forts, famous monuments like Hawa Mahal, mouth-watering Rajasthani cuisines, etc. added magic in the movie that generated craving to go and explore the city.   

  • Barfi! – Darjeeling

Beautiful hill stations and Bollywood has a unique connection. In Anurag Kashyap’s Barfi! starring Ranbeer Kapoor let you explore the most mesmerizing hill station Darjeeling. Lush greenery, clouds, rain, toy train, rugged terrains, churches, cafes, etc. in backdrop aspire you to have a holiday plan at Darjeeling and experience the same feeling.

  • Kahaani – Kolkata

The spirit of the charming city Kolkata is not easy to capture in frames and words. A number of movies shot in the city but movies like Kahaani captured in all of its glory seamlessly. Local streets, transportations, accent, Durga Puja, etc. manages well to enjoy the spirit of Kolkata in the movie. Other movies like Detective Byomkesh Bakshi, Piku, Lootera, Parineeta, and Yuva also managed to bring alive the city also makes everyone to taste the flavor of the city.

  • Lootera – Dalhousie 

This period romantic movie was shot in West Bengal but the second half of the film was primarily shot in Dalhousie, Himachal Pradesh.  As per the report, the shooting was quite difficult due to heavy snow but most of the scenes captured beautifully. Pristine and serene beauty, Dalhousie with snow-clad mountains especially in the climax scene leaves an ineradicable impact on the audience.

  • Chennai Express – South India

Don’t get confused by the name as it is not shot in Chennai. However, there were breathtaking backdrops of South India including Munnar, Dudhsagar Falls, Goa, Panchgani, Ooty, and Hyderabad. The movie shows the flavors of South marvelously.

  • 3 Idiots – Leh Ladakh

It is one of the highest grossing and entertaining movies of all time. The film shows various beautiful locations especially Himachal Pradesh. But, one place that makes everyone starved to get there, is Ladakh where the last scene shot. It might be quite a tough journey to see the glistening blue waters of Pangong Lake, but the view of the picturesque beauty is definitely worth. Apart from that, the school of Rancho showed in the movie is real and situated in Leh. It is one of the most sought-after travel destinations that no one can deny to visit there.

  • Veer-Zaara – Amritsar

One of the Yash Chopra’s blockbusters Veer Zaara captures Punjab and its flavors beautifully. Most of the shooting was done in Amritsar. Wagah border, mustard fields, Khalsa College, Attari International Railway station were the beautiful backdrops of the movie. Amritsar is a beautiful city in Punjab and famous for various attractions like Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh, Wagah Border, etc. and not to forget delectable cuisines. It is a paradise for foodies. One interesting fact is that Preity Zinta’s Pakistan house was actually Pataudi Palace in Haryana.

  • Bollywood – Kashmir

Bollywood’s relation with Kashmir is quite old and started from Shammi Kapoor. Dal Lake, snow-laden mountain peaks, and green meadows of Kashmir truly describe it as the heaven on earth. A number of movies shot in Kashmir like Roja, Kashmir Ki Kali, Junglee, Yahaan, Highway, Rockstar, etc. have captured the fascinating beauty of Kashmir fabulously.
